Job summary

URBN is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team in planning product purchases, studying fashion trends, managing samples, and reporting accurately. You will help curate a customer-focused product mix and liaise with internal teams and vendors to meet sales goals.

The role involves using data to determine quantities, price points, and assortments, ensuring inventory aligns with customer demand and business targets, while supporting a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Educational background in fashion or merchandising is preferred.
• 1 year of clerical or retail experience is preferred.
• Understanding of target customer and trends to select appealing products.
• Comfort with basic business analytics and metrics (IMU, GM, WOS, OTB).
• Strong communication with teams, vendors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Product mix support using data-backed insights and regional/demographic tailoring.
• Stay updated on fashion trends via shows, publications, and social media to influence selections.
• Manage department samples: collect, classify, organize, and log for merchandising and photography teams.
• Update assortment sheets and use Island Pacific for order accuracy and basic analyses.
• Communicate effectively with peers, vendors, and cross-functional teams; assist Buying Operations to ensure on-time, on-budget orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
