Job summary

Columbia Bank in San Jose, CA, is seeking an Assistant/Branch Manager to work closely with the Branch Manager to drive branch goals and operational excellence. You will supervise tellers, open new accounts, process loans, and cross-sell services while delivering Breakthrough Client Service.

You will develop client relationships in the local community, coach staff, and ensure audits and controls are maintained. A banking/Business background and leadership experience are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s in banking, business, or related field preferred.
• 2 years of retail banking experience required.
• 1 year of management or supervisory experience preferred.
• 1 year of consumer or small business lending origination preferred.
• Customer service background in retail or banking.
• Ability to grow sales by building long-term client relationships and offering solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership in professional, transparent, and courteous communications.
• Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking ability.
• Proficient with banking systems and related software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coach Tellers; may oversee personal bankers with Branch Manager.
• Lead day-to-day branch operations to meet standards and audits.
• Monitor sales and service goals and coach teams to deepen client relationships.
• Assist in opening new accounts, processing loan requests, and gathering credit information.
• Process branch operations: openings/closings, overdraft monitoring, wire transfers, collections, stop payments, controls.
