Job summary

Sheppard Pratt is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist for a 12-month in-person role based at Severna Park High School, with frequent coverage at Sever Run Middle School and Millersville Elementary School in Anne Arundel County.

You will work under a licensed behavior analyst to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, and provide support to students with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1 year of related experience; or an Associate degree with 2 years; or a high school diploma with 4 years.
  • Be 18 years old with at least 2 years of driving experience and a valid driver’s license; driving record with 2 points or less in the last 3 years.
  • Must meet Sheppard Pratt's requirements to operate a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Collect and accurately record data on client behavior during intervention sessions.
  • Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and ongoing assessments to monitor progress.
  • Provide training and support to caregivers and staff on behavior management techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

About the Role

This 12-month position is based out of Severna Park High School, but will frequently be needed at Sheppard Pratt's other Anne Arundel County locations (Sever Run Middle School and Millersville Elementary School).

What to expect.

You will work under the supervision of a licensed behavior analyst to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, and provide support to students with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individualized intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Collecting and accurately recording data on client behavior during intervention sessions.
  • Assisting in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and ongoing assessments to monitor progress.

  • Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

The pay range for this position is $19.36/hr minimum - $28.70/hr maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

What we need from you.
  • One of the following combinations of education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1 year of related experience.
  • Associate degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • High school degree or GED and 4 years of related experience.
  • Must meet Sheppard Pratt's requirements to operate a company vehicle:
  • Be 18 years old with at least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Having a valid driver's license.
  • Driving record with 2 points or less for the 3 most recent years of driving history.
