Job summary

  • Participate in departmental meetings and hold office hours.
  • Maintain curriculum materials and support laboratory/teaching activities as needed.
  • Serve on departmental and University committees; contribute to research.

Job Title

Assistant/Associate Professor, Literacy (Tenured/TenureTrack)

Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts a requisite number of classes; Teaches assignedsubjects
  • Provides guidance and supervision to students
  • Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence inteaching, learning and research
  • Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/hersubject(s)
  • Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduledoffice hours
  • Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements forlaboratory practical sessions, and provides materials tostudents
  • Provides academic support to other faculty members
  • Serves on departmental and University committees, asassigned
  • Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education

Doctor of Philosophy in ElementaryEducation, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction or relatedfield

Minimum Experience
  • Five (5) years’ teaching experience atthe college or university level
  • Experience in literacy methods and special educationpreferred
  • Experience advising students at the university level
Licenses/Certifications
  • LETRS or equivalent training
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of Literacy Education Standards
  • Vast knowledge of CAEP standards
  • Demonstrated integrity
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written andinterpersonal
  • Strong time management skills
  • Passion for teaching and engaging with students
  • Skilled in mentoring students
  • Ability to work well with colleagues and foster a collegialenvironment conducive to teamwork and students’ high level oflearning
