The Emporia State University Nursing program seeks a dedicated and skilled faculty member for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track, or multi-year contract, remote position. This individual will primarily teach online in our MSN program, which offers two tracks: Nursing Education and Nurse Manager/Leader. The faculty member may also teach in the BSN program as needed. Responsibilities include teaching core MSN courses, concentration courses, and practicum courses. Additionally, they will collaborate with other MSN faculty and the Nursing Assistant Dean to review the curriculum, advise MSN students, assess program outcomes, and contribute to the program's overall success.
The ideal candidate will have a strong nursing education and leadership background and be committed to fostering a supportive and engaging online learning environment. They will be responsible for integrating current nursing research into their teaching, promoting evidence-based practices, and ensuring students are well-prepared for advanced roles in nursing. This role also involves participating in accreditation and maintaining compliance with university and state regulations.
This position may be offered as a tenure-track, multi-year contract (non-tenure track up to three years), or non-tenure-track appointment, with consideration of factors including, but not limited to, academic program needs, the authority of Emporia State University, the qualifications of candidates, and consideration of the interests of candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching core courses and concentration courses of a fully online MSN program.
Designing and updating online course materials, including lectures, assignments, and quizzes, to align with nursing standards and learning objectives.
Delivering online courses using various tools, such as video lectures, discussion forums, collaborative platforms, and online learning management systems.
Evaluating student learning through online exams, assignments, case studies, and clinical simulations, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
Engaging with students through virtual office hours, email, and discussion boards to address questions, provide guidance, and facilitate academic support.
Incorporating current nursing research into course content and encouraging students to critically analyze evidence-based practices.
Collaborating with other faculty members to maintain course consistency, coordinate curriculum, and ensure quality online learning experiences.
Effectively utilizing online learning platforms, including familiarity with video conferencing tools, learning management systems, and online assessment tools.
Assisting with placing students with preceptors and overseeing their precepting experiences.
Using established and innovative methods to enhance the instructional process.
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational outcomes and monitor student learning outcomes.
Complying with all policies, standards, mandatory training, and requirements of Emporia State University and Emporia State University Nursing.
Demonstrating the ability to read, understand, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations, assisting in the accreditation process as necessary, and providing documentation to show standards are met.
Performing other specific duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean.
COMPENSATION:
Salary: $73,000 - $77,000 annually
Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
