Job summary

Northern Rivers Family of Services in New York is seeking a Food Service Assistant Supervisor to help manage daily operations across Albany and Schenectady sites. You will oversee dinner service, meal preparation, portion control, and staff assignments while ensuring quality and compliance.

This role requires 1–3 years in food service with leadership or lead cook experience, a high school diploma, and ServSafe Manager certification (or within 60 days).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; hospitality/culinary coursework encouraged.
• 1–3 years in food service with leadership or lead-cook experience.
• ServSafe Manager certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dinner shifts and ensure quality meals across all locations.
• Oversee meal assembly, food preparation, and portion control.
• Train staff and assign daily tasks to staff.
• Help order food and manage inventory.
• Enforce Local/State Health Department guidelines and HACCP standards.
• Maintain logs for food temperatures, production, and cleaning schedules.
• Step in to perform kitchen duties during meal times or staffing shortages.

As a Food Service Assistant Supervisor, you will help manage staff in daily food service operations, including training staff when needed. You will also help to cover for staff shortages across both affiliates. You will report to the Food Service Supervisor. You will travel between Albany and Schenectady sites.
