Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide assignment-ready financial counseling services to service members and their families at military installations. The role supports education, briefings, referrals, and virtual counseling across the DoD framework, coordinating with installation leadership and points of contact.

The candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), 3+ years in financial counseling, U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Associate degree + 4 years’ experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
• High school diploma + 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish if required.
• Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation.
• Must pass the OCI disclosure process.
• AFC, CFP, or ChFC certifications required or at least one of them.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
• Assists in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develops and distributes informational financial materials.
• Coordinates and promotes PFM classes/workshops across the military lifecycle.
• Delivers age-appropriate seminars upon request.
• Utilizes virtual counseling and secure video/online communications as needed.
• Manages duty to warn per DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership; participates in supervision and trend discussions.
• Participates in training and quality improvement activities.
• Supports other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree

Association degree + 4 years experience alternative
