Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC Texas, to provide primary financial counseling services to service members and their families at military installations. Role includes in-person and virtual counseling, class development, and coordination with DoD protocols.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 3+ years in financial counseling, U.S. citizenship, English fluency, and certifications AFC/CFP/ChFC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
• If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI).
• Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinates and provides Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication.
• Manages duty to warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership and participates in supervision.
• Participates in in-services/training and quality improvement activities.
• All other duties as assigned.
