Job summary

JCPenney is seeking an Asset Protection Specialist focused on shrink reduction and investigation. You will observe sales-floor activity, collect evidence, and follow policy to apprehend suspects. The role covers internal investigations, documentation, and collaboration with store leadership.

You will conduct external interviews, report fraud, and participate in court hearings as required. Travel to designated stores is expected, with a strong commitment to safety and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• 1+ years retail work experience in Asset Protection/Security or equivalent leadership/education preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud or suspicious activity; collect evidence and document stages.
• Execute required investigation routines and proper documentation.
• Conduct external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Report suspected fraud and policy infractions to AP and store leadership.
• Create and manage records for apprehensions, statements, evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Attend court hearings and coordinate with law enforcement; travel to stores as needed.
• Identify potential theft and fraud by observing activity and reviewing reports.
• Investigate suspicious behavior and assist with incident investigations.
