Job summary

JCPenney is seeking an Asset Protection professional to observe and identify theft and fraud on the sales floor, collect evidence, and conduct interviews in line with policy and local laws. You will document all stages of investigations and report suspected violations to store leadership.

The role involves following AP directives, coordinating with law enforcement, and traveling to stores as needed to protect assets and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
• AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.
• Must be age 18+.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity; collect investigative evidence utilizing CCTV and observations from the sales floor.
• Executes required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft, and properly documents all stages.
• Conducts external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft in accordance with local laws and Company policy.
• Reports suspected fraud and policy violations to AP and/or Store leadership.
• Create and manage records for reporting apprehensions, witness statements, retention of evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Collect evidence and/or monitor associate activity as needed regarding internal investigations; serve as an interview witness.
• Travel to stores as necessary.
• Analyze intelligence on individuals and booster groups involved in theft.
• Attend court hearings as required and coordinate with local law enforcement.
