Job description

Asset Manager – Office/Residential Portfolio Douglas Development Corporation

Washington, DC (In-Person, Full-Time)

Douglas Development Corporation, a leading privately held real estate developer and owner since 1985, is seeking a talented Asset Manager to oversee the operational and financial performance of our growing residential, office, & mixed-use portfolio in the Washington, DC metro area and beyond.

With over 17 million square feet of office, retail, residential, and other properties across multiple states, we specialize in revitalizing communities, preserving historic assets, and creating value through strategic ownership and operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll drive performance, collaborate closely with ownership, third-party property managers, and key stakeholders to maximize long-term value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Weekly: Monitor leasing activity, renewals, rental rates, and operating expenses; lead weekly performance meetings with property management teams; develop leasing/marketing strategies to boost occupancy and revenue; identify expense reductions and approve biweekly payables.
  • Monthly: Analyze financials, variance reports, and cash positions; conduct performance reviews with ownership and managers to meet annual cash flow targets.
  • Quarterly: Conduct on-site property visits (quarterly or bi-monthly) to evaluate asset conditions, operations, and capital needs.
  • Annually: Spearhead budgeting process, recommend enhancements based on performance data, ensure alignment with company goals, and manage leasing license renewals.

You'll serve as the primary liaison between ownership, property management, and financial partners—providing strategic direction, risk mitigation, and value-add initiatives for our residential and mixed-use communities.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in office/residential/multifamily asset management, real estate finance, or property operations from an ownership perspective (third-party management experience considered if paired with strong ownership-side insight).
  • Proven track record in financial/operational oversight of residential, office, or mixed-use properties.
  • Strong knowledge of property management systems, financial reporting, budgeting, and market analysis.
  • Ability to develop strategic approaches to mitigate risk and implement value-add strategies for existing assets.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for effective collaboration with ownership, on-site teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel heavy); familiarity with real estate software a plus.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and proactive with strong leadership and relationship-building abilities.
Why Douglas Development?
Join a collaborative, growth-focused team in the heart of Washington, DC. You'll be involved across the full real estate lifecycle—from acquisitions to operations and disposition—while contributing to innovative projects that enhance communities. We value operational excellence, forward-thinking strategies, and long-term success.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Washington, DC office (no remote/hybrid option).

If you're a motivated professional with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience ready to dive in on a dynamic portfolio, we'd love to hear from you!
