Assembler Mechanical

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.

Summary

The right candidate will:

  1. Be a safety minded person who enjoys hands on work.
  2. Ability to assemble and disassemble various components.
  3. Document daily activities.
  4. Possess good mechanical skills in daily operations.
  5. Perform cleaning, grinding, painting and all related tasks to buildings, equipment, components, and subassemblies.
  6. Perform clean up, removal of trash, coolant, oil, scrap, chips, etc.
  7. Be courteous and work well with others.
  8. Complete Maintenance Request Forms for items in the work area in need of repair.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean working environment, upholding a world-class standard of housekeeping.
  10. Work with a safety conscientious attitude and report any unsafe acts or areas to management.

What you’ll need:

  1. Good mechanical skills.
  2. Good working knowledge of mechanical tools.
  3. Mathematics – Knows basic shop math, and other functions necessary for the job.
  4. Blueprint reading - interprets drawings.
  5. Cranes – lifts equipment safely, knows where disconnect switches are, performs daily crane inspections, loads and unloads trucks, stages equipment.
  6. Forklift – drive safely, load and unload, refuel, perform daily forklift inspections.
  7. Basic computer skills.
  8. Work from bills of material, purchasing lists, shipping documents and parts/shop supplies.
  9. Self-motivation to identify, analyze and independently work to find solutions to flow issues is essential.
  10. Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
  11. Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks.
