Summary

Mechanical Assembler - Will work with all departments of the workshop to ensure accuracy of all components of the assembly process.

The right candidate will

1. Safety minded worker who is drug free and dependable with an excellent attendance record
2. Reports and/or corrects all unsafe conditions immediately
3. Reports any safety incidents prior to the end of the shift
4. Performs complex disassembly and assembly work duties
5. Performs cleaning, grinding, painting, hydrostatic testing, hydraulic testing, flame testing, and all related tasks to buildings, equipment, components, and subassemblies
6. Basic welding/burning functions. Performs heating required for some assemblies
7. Performs grit blasting and steam cleanings
8. Moves equipment and parts using the fork truck, crane, or other material handling equipment
9. Performs clean up of work area and surrounding areas and keeps work area organized
10. Assists other employees as directed by management or group leaders
11. Completes forms, routers, and related paperwork
12. Mentors other employees as needed
13. All other assigned duties and tasks

What you'll need

1. Hazard Recognition - knows/understands hazards of the job assignments before starting a job
2. Communication - effectively communicates with other employees
3. Basic Measuring - use various measuring devices and gages as required
4. Advanced Measuring - use various complex measuring devices and gages as required
5. Blueprint Reading - interprets drawings
6. Work from bills of material, purchasing lists, shipping documents and parts/shop supplies
7. Basic computer skills is preferred
8. Cranes - lifts equipment safely, knows where disconnect switches are, performs daily crane inspections, loads and unloads trucks, stages equipment
9. Forklift - drive safely, load and unload, refuel, perform daily forklift inspections
10. Steel making equipment maintenance is preferred

Education

1. High school diploma or GED preferred
2. Reading/writing skills (literacy) as required
3. Mathematics - knows basic shop math and other functions necessary for the job
4. OSHA General Industry 10 Hour Course is preferred
