Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and handling inventory, merchandise, and store needs. This temporary role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position and runs for a limited period.

The incumbent will assist with recruiting, merchandising, stocking, inventory controls, and daily store operations while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules and procedures.
• Performs basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions and reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of store cash controls and safety policies.
• Recruiting, hiring, and training processes and compliance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems in varied store situations.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to store manager direction.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe cash handling and deposits.
• Maintain store security and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
