Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily store operations, including staffing, merchandising, inventory, and cash controls. This role serves as a development path toward Store Manager and is temporary in duration.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, inventory accuracy, opening/closing duties, and ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining store standards and security protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, deposits, and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of safety, cash, and store control policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking to support presentation per guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management and proper documentation.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership within the store.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures and act as a role model.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and cash control procedures.
• Assist in maintaining clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in Store Manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for sales, labor, profitability, and inventory turns.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation on time.
