Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in day-to-day operations, supervise staff, manage inventory, merchandising, and store needs. This role supports external candidate development for the Store Manager track and is temporary.

Responsibilities include recruiting and staffing, inventory controls, customer service leadership, adherence to procedures, and maintaining a safe, well-stocked store environment. Travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret procedures and safety rules.
• Math skills for calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of store security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, and scans.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
