Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate is seeking a candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and handling paperwork. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting and staffing, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling and security, store opening/closing, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-stocked

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of federal labor laws and company policies and procedures.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, hire, train and counsel staff with legal compliance in mind.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock presentation according to practices and directions.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and control.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the absence of the store manager.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
