Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, staffing, inventory control, stocking, and store needs. The role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period and involves working collaboratively to drive store performance.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory processes, cash handling, and store operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, counsel, and terminate practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensuring presentation aligns with store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in manuals and communications.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in designated banks.
• Assist in cashier accountability, key control and cash security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines.
