Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for heavy civil/highway construction in the Richmond, VA area. You’ll be paired with a Senior Project Manager and take on real responsibilities from day one, including submittals, RFIs, procurement, and cost tracking on active projects.

We value hands-on leaders with 3–10 years in heavy civil work, a civil engineering or construction management background, and a willingness to relocate to the Richmond area.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years on heavy civil, highway, or utility projects.
• Knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking; HeavyJob, Bluebeam, or P6 exposure is a plus.
• Valid driver's license; travel is primarily local.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Richmond area.

Responsibilities

• Drive submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules to keep field crews ahead.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders to protect schedule.
• Track quantities, production, and costs against budget and flag variances.
• Support monthly payment requisitions, cost projections, and project docs.
• Attend weekly project team meetings covering schedule and cost review.
• Support a safety culture on the project site.

Education

B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, and/or equivalent field experience
