Job summary

MDS Staffing in the Richmond, VA area is recruiting an Assistant Project Manager for our Heavy Civil / Highway construction portfolio. You’ll work with a Senior PM from day one and handle real project responsibilities, not a watch-and-learn role.

You’ll manage submittals, RFIs, procurement, scheduling, and cost tracking while coordinating subcontractors. Local travel, relocation assistance for the right candidate, and a salary range of $110,000–$145,000 accompany comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years on heavy civil, highway, or utility projects.
• Experience with scheduling and cost tracking.
• Valid driver's license; travel is local.

Responsibilities

• Manage submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material tracking to maintain schedule.
• Track quantities, production, and costs against budget and flag variances.
• Support monthly payment requisitions and project documentation.
• Attend weekly project team meetings to review schedule and cost.
