Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for heavy civil / highway construction in the Richmond, VA area. You will work with a Senior PM on active projects, handling submittals, RFIs, procurement, material tracking, and cost control from day one.

This role offers growth into managing own projects on a team where experience is built, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate and a strong field-focused workflow in Virginia and North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Experience on heavy civil, highway, or utility projects.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent field experience.
• Valid driver’s license with local travel.

Responsibilities

• Drive submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules to keep field crews ahead.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders to protect schedule.
• Track quantities, production, and costs against budget; flag variances.
• Support monthly payment requisitions, cost projections, and project docs.
• Attend weekly meetings covering schedule and cost review; learn profitability dynamics.
• Support a safety culture at all project levels.
