Job Description:

Perform asphalt paving machine operator duties on an asphalt paving lay down crew.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate asphalt rubber-tired and track paving machines that spread and level asphalt on highways, parking lots, streets, and related surfaces.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oiling, greasing, servicing, and making adjustments to the equipment.
• Assist with tasks like adding or removing screed extensions and installing or removing automatic devices or accessories.
• Guide and direct dump trucks backing up to the hopper.

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

• At least one year of experience; training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Valid NC Driver's License encouraged.
• Willingness to learn multiple paving tasks.
• Ability to follow precise instructions and adhere to safety rules and policies.
• Reliable, trustworthy team player with good attendance and safety record.
• Availability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and some nights.
• Possession of a Military Base pass may be required for some positions.

Tasks Essential to Job Functions:

• Physical motions include standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, and squatting.
• Regularly lift 25 pounds or more; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Workdays may be 12 to 15 hours, involving walking and standing.
• Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Transportation to and from work required; company vehicle driving must meet qualification standards.
• Overtime may be necessary.
