Job summary

Community Crisis Services, Inc. seeks VideoPhone Hotline Specialists who are fluent in American Sign Language to staff a 24/7 crisis hotline serving Deaf/Hard of Hearing callers across Maryland and the United States.

The role provides short-term crisis intervention, information, and referral with a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach. This hybrid position requires residency within 50 miles of Hyattsville, on-site orientation, and training in crisis intervention and ASIST.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with an ASL assessment.
• Complete crisis intervention training and ASIST/related trainings within 6 months.
• Able to communicate clearly, remain non-judgmental, and work in a team.
• Proficient with assistive communication tools and video/phone platforms.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective communication on 988 Videophone.
• Complete statistics and forms accurately for each call.
• Maintain confidentiality and escalate as needed.
• Multitask between routing calls and video tech.
• Support 24/7 shift coverage and participate in on-site orientation.
