Job summary

E-Therapy is seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our onsite team in Aurora, IL for the 26/27 school year. The role focuses on real-time interpretation to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and staff in classroom and extracurricular activities.

The ideal candidate will hold an ASL interpretation degree, NIC/EIPA or equivalent certification, and experience in educational settings.

Qualifications

• ASL interpretation degree or related field (associates or bachelor's).
• NIC/EIPA score (3.5+) or equivalent certification.
• ASL and English proficiency with strong receptive/expressive skills.
• Knowledge of educational settings and special education laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation between English and ASL for students, teachers, and staff.
• Facilitate communication during instruction, meetings, assessments, and school events.
• Interpret and adapt educational materials for clarity.
• Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to support learning.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism per ethics.
• Advocate for accessibility needs and ensure IDEA/ADA compliance.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance interpretation skills.
