Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing seeks a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support high school students onsite near Burlington, IL. You will bridge communication between deaf students, peers and educators during instructional hours.

The position emphasizes ASL fluency, confidentiality, and collaboration with teachers and staff to ensure inclusive classroom participation and equity for all students.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Sign Language Interpreter license required.
• State and district qualifications, with adherence to any additional requirements.
• Experience in educational or high-school setting strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of interpretive practices.
• Strong interpersonal communication, reliability, and adaptability in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation services to high school students during instructional hours.
• Accurately translate spoken communication into sign language, and vice versa, to support full classroom participation.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students, educators, and families.
• Collaborate with educators, support staff, and other interpreters to ensure consistency and quality of service.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and code of conduct.
