Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY seeks an ASL Interpreter & Language Assistance Coordinator for a part-time role. Schedule shows Day shift with 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM hours and a rotating schedule, totaling 40 hours weekly.

The certified ASL interpreter will assist patients with limited English proficiency, oversee the Language Assistance Program, manage interpretation devices, and educate staff to ensure high-quality communication and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School required.
• Bachelor Degree preferred.
• 1-3 years work experience as an ASL Interpreter preferred.
• ASL certification required.

Responsibilities

• Interprets (spoken language) for patients, families and companions.
• Acts as a liaison between patient/family/companions and organization by interpreting, explaining and navigating policies and procedures.
• Participates in departmental QI process related to interpreter services and customer satisfaction.
• Assist with Propio device management.
• Round on all patients with a language other than English.
• Audit charts for Propio compliance and provide staff education.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by Director of Patient Experience.
