Job summary

Avamere at Chestnut Lane in Gresham, OR is seeking an ASL Staff Interpreter to facilitate critical communication for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf Blind residents. The role requires advanced ASL proficiency, tactile signing, and collaboration with medical staff to ensure access and independence.

The position involves interpretting in various shifts, supporting activities, and ensuring ADA-compliant communication across the facility. Prior experience and active CPR/BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• RID or BEI certification is required.
• Advanced ASL and tactile/close-vision interpreting skills.
• 2–3 years professional interpreting experience.
• Active CPR/BLS certification during employment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between residents, staff, and medical personnel using ASL, English, and tactile signing.
• Narrate visual information for Deaf Blind residents and translate documents.
• Collaborate with care staff and professionals to ensure consistent care.
• Assist residents with ADLs, navigation, and participation in activities.
