Job summary

Cal Poly Humboldt is seeking an American Sign Language Interpreter for the Campus Disability Resource Center. The role covers interpreting in classroom and instructional settings, supporting Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students with various vocabulary demands. There are multiple levels (I, II A/B) with different salary ranges and expectations.

The position is temporary and hourly, with final salary placement based on experience, equity, and budget.”

Qualifications

• Experience in sign language interpreting or transliterating.
• Certification in RID, NAD, BEI or equivalent.
• Two+ years of interpreting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Deaf-Blind, and hearing stakeholders.
• Interpret spoken English into sign language and vice versa.
• Adapt interpreting approaches to match consumer language preferences and needs.
• Provide interpreting services for advanced-level classes and large groups.
