Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Assistant for the Ella Baker program. The role supports students with disabilities, assists staff with individualized lessons, and fosters independence and social inclusion in a Least Restrictive Environment.

Position may involve ABA strategies and behavior support planning. The candidate will monitor student progress, maintain records, and communicate with families while ensuring safety and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of paid experience working with children or equivalent
• ParaPro assessment passing score of 460 or higher.
• Education/Training in Education, Child Development or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support services to students with disabilities within the learning environment.
• Assists staff to develop and implement individualized lessons and activities.
• Promotes independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy skills.
• Maintains student progress records and behavioral data.
