Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant (Program) for MPS Online 6-12. The role supports students with disabilities, helps implement individualized instruction, and promotes independence and inclusion in the learning process.

Responsibilities include assisting staff, monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and communicating with families. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 2 years of experience with children, and ParaPro score requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or related area is required or equivalent.
• Passing score of 460 on the ParaPro Assessment is required.
• Two years of paid experience working with children is required.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide a variety of services to assist students with special needs in a learning environment.
• Assist staff to develop and implement individualized lessons and activities for students with disabilities.
• Promote student independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy goals.
• Monitor student activities and maintain records of progress and behavior.

Education

High School Diploma/GED

90 quarter or 60 semester credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or related educational area

ParaPro Assessment score 460+

Two years of paid experience working with children

Equivalent combination of education, training and experience
