Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a skilled Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders. You will follow procedures, ensure quality, and deliver outstanding service to customers in a fast-paced setting.

You will train apprentices, maintain cleanliness, and assist with openings/closings, while upholding safety standards and company programs in the bakery department.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a professional bakery or grocery retail is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items.
• Build and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet demand and maintain records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case, monitor freshness.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs per customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle phones promptly.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and adhere to safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and price signage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
