Job summary

Safeway in California is seeking a Baker to prepare breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts from established recipes, measuring, mixing, shaping, baking, and decorating as needed for daily service.

You will maintain a clean workstation, rotate stock, assist customers with questions and special orders, and contribute to a fast-paced bakery operation with teamwork and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Prior baking or food production experience preferred.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts following established recipes and methods.
• Measure, mix, shape, and bake products; decorate items as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and rotate labels/ingredients for safety and freshness.
• Collaborate with bakery team to plan daily production and ensure availability of in‑case items.
• Assist customers with product questions and take special orders in a friendly, efficient manner.
