Job summary

Safeway in California is seeking a dedicated Baker to prepare a variety of breads, pastries, cakes and desserts from established recipes. You’ll measure, mix, shape and bake, ensuring consistency and high quality for customers.

You will maintain clean and safe work areas, rotate ingredients, assist customers with questions, take special orders, and help keep display cases full and appealing in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• Experience baking breads, pastries, and desserts using established recipes and production methods.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain quality.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced bakery.
• Familiarity with food safety practices and sanitation.
• Team-oriented with willingness to assist coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts per recipes.
• Decorate items such as cakes and specialty desserts.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and rotate/label ingredients.
• Ensure cases are full, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
• Assist customers, answer product questions, and take special orders.
• Collaborate with bakery team to plan daily production needs.
