Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Cannon Crewmember to operate howitzers, learn artillery tactics, and support battlefield readiness. You’ll gain hands-on training while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

As skills grow, you may supervise other crewmembers, manage cannon operations, and participate in training and maintenance. It’s a structured path with Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, culminating in continued service benefits.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Ages 17–35.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet standards of conduct.
• Citizenship as specified by NATIONALGUARD.com.

Responsibilities

• Conducting wire and radio communications.
• Identifying target locations.
• Setting, loading, and firing artillery.
• Using computers to generate fire direction data.
• Operating heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles.
• Transporting and managing artillery ammunition.
• Maintaining operational readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in reconnaissance operations.
