Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks Cannon Crewmembers to operate artillery systems and support field operations. Crewmembers learn to identify targets, communicate and perform fire direction data tasks, while maintaining equipment and vehicles in readiness.

As skill and responsibility grow, crewmembers supervise teams during ammunition handling, training exercises, and mission planning, with opportunities for continued military education and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conducting wire and radio communications
• Identifying target locations
• Setting, loading, and firing artillery
• Using computers to generate fire direction data
• Operating heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles
• Transporting and managing artillery ammunition
• Maintaining operational readiness of vehicles and equipment
• Participate in reconnaissance operations
