Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Cannon Crewmember to operate howitzers, identify targets, and support artillery missions. You will learn high-tech artillery systems, tactics, and battlefield procedures.

As you advance, you may supervise crewmembers in ammunition distribution and cannon operations, training, and maintenance. Training is paid, with tuition assistance, and combines Basic Training with seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training, plus classroom and field time.

Responsibilities

• Conduct wire and radio communications.
• Identify target locations.
• Set, load, and fire artillery.
• Use computers to generate fire direction data.
• Operate heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles.
• Transport and manage artillery ammunition.
• Maintain readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in reconnaissance operations.
