Job summary

The DC Army National Guard is seeking a Cannon Crewmember to operate howitzers, identify targets, and contribute to fire support. You will train and serve in a team, gaining real-world artillery experience while earning pay.

Training lasts about 10 weeks of Basic Training plus seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with tuition assistance, health care, retirement benefits, and a steady drill-weekend paycheck.

Qualifications

• Must be physically and mentally fit for demanding tasks.
• Ability to make quick decisions in combat environments.
• Capable of working effectively as part of a crew and team.

Responsibilities

• Conducting wire and radio communications
• Identifying target locations
• Setting, loading, and firing artillery
• Using computers to generate fire direction data
• Operating heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles
• Transporting and managing artillery ammunition
• Maintaining operational readiness of vehicles and equipment
• Participate in reconnaissance operations
