Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking Cannon Crewmembers to join a team responsible for targeting, loading, and firing artillery, and for maintaining equipment and communications in field conditions.

Members will learn howitzers, fire direction data, and tactical procedures while training to perform under pressure and in coordination with peers. Benefits include paid training, drill compensation, and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be physically and mentally fit to perform under pressure.
• Must be capable of working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conducting wire and radio communications
• Identifying target locations
• Setting, loading, and firing artillery
• Using computers to generate fire direction data
• Operating heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles
• Transporting and managing artillery ammunition
• Maintaining operational readiness of vehicles and equipment
• Participate in reconnaissance operations
