Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Cannon Crewmember to operate artillery and learn battlefield tactics. You will learn to use howitzers, perform targeting, and work within a crew to deliver accurate fire support.

Initial training spans Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, followed by ongoing drills. Paid training, tuition assistance, and benefits support ongoing service commitments.

Qualifications

• Must be enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be between ages 17 and 35.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct wire and radio communications.
• Identify target locations.
• Set, load, and fire artillery.
• Use computers to generate fire direction data.
• Operate heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles.
• Transport and manage artillery ammunition.
• Maintain operational readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in reconnaissance operations.
