Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Manager of the Sloane Art Library to oversee daily operations, staffing, and policy implementation for the Art Library space.

The role collaborates with library leadership to manage circulation services, information and research assistance, and programming related to special collections, with some evening/weekend hours possible. Hybrid arrangements may be available.

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of art and art history.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to meet high service standards in all interactions.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising others.
  • Demonstrated ability to locate, analyze, and interpret data contained in complex online systems, such as scholarly databases or integrated library systems.
  • Computing skills, including familiarity across operating systems and fluency with office applications as well as comfort troubleshooting both familiar and new technology.
  • Attention to detail, time-management, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Art Library.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees; liaise with security and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain library policies related to circulation and use of Art Library spaces.
