Job summary

The University of Chicago Library seeks a capable supervisor to oversee Regenstein and Mansueto Libraries, ensuring secure access and enforcing library policies while overseeing clerical staff and student circulation assistants.

You will manage daily circulation, assist with training, course reserves, and patron inquiries, and coordinate with Library Facilities Services to resolve emergencies, maintaining a scholarly, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Vocational training or equivalent experience in related field.
• Experience with MS Office, email, and internet work applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work of clerical staff and serves as the supervisor in charge of the Regenstein Library.
• Oversees building security, resolves problems and appeals related to entry policies.
• Responsible for executing opening or closing procedures and reporting issues to Facilities Services.
• Enforces policies that support a scholarly environment and documents incidents.
• Provides customer service by answering patron questions related to access services, fines, and recalls.
