Job summary

Harvard Library is seeking an Access Services Manager to lead operations across the Monroe Gutman Library, the Ernst Mayr Library, and the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library. You will supervise staff, oversee circulation, reserves, and access services to ensure equitable user access and high-quality service.

This working managerial role requires strong knowledge of library systems, collaboration with ELT, and adaptability to the academic calendar and holidays.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS or equivalent degree required.
• Minimum of 3 years of academic library experience with strong public service orientation.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in GLAM or related organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and supervise daily Access Services operations at assigned libraries.
• Plan daily workflows, assign tasks, and adjust staffing to meet service demands.
• Recruit, coach, and performance manage staff and student workers with feedback and reviews.
• Maintain regular communication with Associate Director on performance and staffing.
• Develop and refine procedures to improve efficiency and user experience.
• Coordinate cross-unit collaboration to solve complex, time-sensitive problems.
