Job summary

Howard University Gallery of Art (HUGA) seeks an organized Program Coordinator to support daily gallery operations, coordinate exhibitions and programs, and assist with procurement and budget tracking. The role interfaces with curatorial staff, faculty, and contractors to advance exhibitions and related events.

The position emphasizes administrative coordination, vendor management, and supervision of student workers, with opportunities for professional growth within the university’s art programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience or relevant administrative experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts administration/management, developmental studies, or related fields.
  • Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative procedures within the Gallery of Art and liaise for events and programming.
  • Assist with procurement actions including travel authorizations and contractor services.
  • Reconcile program expenditures with departmental budgets and accounting records.
  • Coordinate revolving gallery programs and support symposiums and conferences.
  • Oversee scheduling of appointments and on-site event logistics.
  • Manage student work-study and internship programs.
