Upstart is a digital-first AI lending marketplace empowering Americans to access affordable credit. As the Art Director, Performance, you will create high-impact creative across Paid Social channels (Meta, TikTok, Google) and partner with Marketing and Creative to drive growth.

You’ll blend performance insights with brand expertise to deliver innovative campaigns. You’ll apply AI in the creative process, lead cross-functional collaboration, and shape best-in-class evergreen and influencer

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in art direction, design, or a related creative discipline.
• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in leading and executing high-impact performance creative across paid social channels.
• Strong knowledge of channel-specific creative best practices, with experience using performance data and testing.
• Expert-level proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite and Figma), with AI-assisted design tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communications, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creative vision and execution across Paid Social channels, ensuring design excellence and brand consistency.
• Apply performance data and testing learnings to generate creative hypotheses and new tests.
• Collaborate with external agencies to deliver evergreen and influencer creative that drives measurable results.
• Strengthen creative systems and workflows for speed, consistency, and scalability as channels evolve.
• Apply generative AI throughout the creative process to accelerate ideation and asset development.
