Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for staff and visitors at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton. The role emphasizes proactive monitoring and rapid threat response to protect people and property.

You will investigate incidents, follow alarms and disaster plans, and assist with drills. A valid BLS, Alabama concealed carry permit, and a valid driver’s license are required; Security Professional preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
• BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Job Description

Provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.

• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge/follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. May facilitate planned drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Operates in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• In state (Alabama) concealed carry weapons permit required.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles required.
• Security Professional preferred.
