Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking aSecurity Officer to join our team at UAB St. Vincent's Blount. The role involves protecting staff and visitors, monitoring for threats, and responding promptly to incidents while following alarm and disaster plans.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, a valid Alabama driver’s license, and a current BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire. An Alabama concealed carry permit is required, with security experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; certification accepted from AHA or Red Cross.
• In-state Alabama concealed carry permit required.
• Driver's license credentialed from Alabama DMV.
• Security professional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness; may facilitate drills.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Operate in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and violations.

Job Description

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• In state (Alabama) concealed carry weapons permit required.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles required.
• Security Professional preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
