Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Public Safety Officer II - Armed at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. This full-time, 3rd shift role runs 11pm-7:30am and entails interior/exterior patrols, incident investigations, de-escalation, and rapid response to emergencies.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or GED, with 4 years of security/public safety experience or 3 years plus 30 credit hours in Criminal Justice, and must be able to carry firearms and meet licensing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years of experience in a security/public safety role or 3 years plus 30 credit hours in Criminal Justice or similar field, with 1 year in a security/safety role.

Responsibilities

• Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in accordance with policies and training.
• Performs interior and exterior patrols to identify hazards, control traffic, and monitor visitors.
• Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence; de-escalates and handles combative or threatening situations.
• Responds to emergencies (loss/abduction, fire, active threats) and intervenes as trained.
• Investigates incidents on Advocate property and prepares reports for leadership.
• Coordinates security awareness and liaison rounds with departments; briefings with law enforcement as needed.
• Trains and mentors officers; maintains training records and verifies competencies.
• Inspects uniforms, equipment, and records; reports findings to leadership.
