Job summary

Advocate Health in Oak Lawn, IL seeks a Public Safety Officer I - Armed for the Christ Medical Center night shift. You will patrol, respond to incidents, manage security operations, and coordinate with law enforcement to protect patients, visitors, and staff.

The role requires armed certification, ongoing handgun qualification, and the ability to de-escalate and document events accurately. This is a full-time, on-site position with hospital-based security duties.

Qualifications

• 1 year of security/public safety or customer service experience.
• Must complete IL armed course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement.
• Must be licensed/fit with FOID or CCW.
• Must pass background, drug screen, pre-placement physical and psychological screening.
• Ability to document work digitally.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional security services according to policy and training.
• Patrol interior and exterior areas; identify hazards, manage valuables, assist visitors.
• Prevent and respond to workplace violence; de-escalate when needed.
• Plan for and respond to emergencies; intervene per training.
• Investigate incidents and file timely reports.
• Liaise with state/local law enforcement and first responders; coordinate safety operations.
• Deliver security awareness education to staff.
