Job summary

HonorHealth is seeking an HIM Technician II to handle birth registration processes and maintain the master patient index across the health system. You will coordinate with Medical Staff Services, verify patient information, and ensure timely submission of birth records and paternity documents.

The role requires knowledge of birth registration regulations, strong data entry skills, and excellent communication with physicians.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher education in health information or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of state birth registration and patient privacy laws.
• Experience with master patient index (MPI) maintenance and medical records processing.
• Excellent communication with physicians and staff; ability to coordinate with Medical Staff Services.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and birth registration processes.

Responsibilities

• Complete and submit Arizona birth certificate and paternity documentation.
• Maintain accuracy of the master patient index (MPI) and perform merges/suspensions as needed.
• Coordinate suspension protocol with Medical Staff Services and ensure 100% submission of birth records.
• Assist with patient information collection and data entry for birth and paternity registrations.
• Identify and resolve issues with birth certificates and paternity affidavits.
• Monitor and report physician deficiencies in the MPI and related systems.
• Support safety initiatives and maintain required competencies.
