Job Description - Area Supervisor (226 Days) (RTP20250506-007)

Description

Directly supervise 12-15 Cafeteria Supervisors and indirectly oversee up to 100+ Food Service Cooks and Food Service Assistants. Provide leadership on policies and procedures related to the Food and Child Nutrition program, including staffing, labor relations, compliance, training, employee evaluation, and public relations at the school level. Serve as a liaison between food services and campus administrators.

  1. Supervise assigned schools in personnel, operations, facilities, customer service, and food quality.
  2. Monitor food purchases, labor costs, and supplies to stay within the annual budget.
  3. Review compliance with HACCP program to ensure food safety practices are followed.
  4. Maintain professional communication with administrators, staff, and leadership.
  5. Manage documentation for staff due process.
  6. Enforce compliance with laws, policies, and regulations related to school food service, and communicate updates to staff.
  7. Conduct regular audits to ensure policy adherence.
  8. Assume site Supervisor responsibilities during vacancies.
  9. Participate in job fairs and campus events as needed.
  10. Provide leadership to ensure policy and procedure compliance.
  11. Assess departmental needs and recommend improvements.
  12. Observe operations and provide training.
  13. Collaborate on staff training development and delivery.
  14. Attend industry workshops and seminars.
  15. Conduct annual performance appraisals for Cafeteria Supervisors.
  16. Lead monthly meetings with Cafeteria Supervisors and staff.
  17. Approve campus food, supply, and equipment orders.
  18. Handle emergency situations using professional judgment.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Note: All federally funded incumbents must comply with reporting requirements.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Registered Dietitian, licensed dietitian, or eligibility is desirable but not required.
